Here's why:
China’s first out lesbian artist, Qiao Qiao, who also operates Beijing's longest-running dyke bar, has released her first single “Ai bu fen” (爱不分) along with a music video depicting two women in love. “Ai bu fen” (爱不分), which means love does not discriminate, is the first openly lesbian song in the People’s Republic, a country where homosexuality has long been fettered by tradition and the pressure to marry.
US GLBT magazine The Advocate reports: First she smooched Sarah Jessica Parker. Now pop star Alanis Morissette will canoodle with Roma Maffia on the hit show Nip/Tuck. The Grammy-winning singer will join the Nip/Tuck cast for three episodes in the upcoming fourth season, currently being shot in Los Angeles. Morissette will portray Poppy, the love interest of Maffia's Miami anesthesiologist Dr. Liz Cruz.
Morissette, who made a high-profile appearance on Sex and The City a few years back, will join a list of Nip/Tuck guest stars this season that includes gay actors Richard Chamberlain and Rosie O'Donnell as well as Brooke Shields, Kathleen Turner, Jacqueline Bisset, and Melissa Gilbert.
Is the cute Dr. Cruz finally getting some decent booty?
The little planet nicknamed Xena, after Lucy Lawless’s TV warrior princess, has been rechristened Eris after the Greek goddess of chaos and strife, an appropriate name given the drama that ensued after its discovery. Eris is the planet that triggered the astronomical astronomer battle over what exactly is a planet, resulting in Pluto being downgraded to a “dwarf planet.” Eris’s discoverer, Michael Brown, tells the Associated Press that the new name will take some getting used to, saying, “It’s a little sad to see Xena go away.”
You’re telling us! This is now the second time Xena has been canceled.
Vous aimez des BD? Tired of Hothead Paisan or Dykes To Watch Out For? Maybe you're simply looking for something new.
Then you have to check this out Paige Braddock's "Jane's World" . It's gay all the way, incredibly funny (it's currently a Will Eisner nominee for best humor book in 2006)... and translated in French as well - so all francophones can enjoy this comic as well!
By the way: if you think Jane's (girl)friend looks familiar, you are right. (Can you spell "Trinity"? ;p) And in case you're interested in the official site, click here.
Excerpt from a report on the festival on Belgian tv.
Belgian band "A Brand" starts of the videoclip. The voice over says Texas and Heather Nova weren't giving interviews but allowed to broadcast a fragment of the show. A small clip from Black Eyed Boy (by Texas) is being shown as well as a small clip from Heather Nova.

Bonjour tout le monde!
I found a French interview with Sarah Bettens (done earlier this year) online. Check it out here.
Enjoy!
Summer and music festivals go hand in hand. Even though I just returned from Chicago I had tickets waiting for two shows: Heather Nova and Texas.
I flew to Chicago, Illinois (USA) on Thursday July 13 - partly because an old friend of mine invited me to come, and partly to be a spectator at the Gaymes. I stayed at his (and his partner's) house. Oh, I arrived in the middle of an ongoing heat wave.
The Opening Ceremony on Saturday July 15 was the longest one - ever: it lasted four hours and fifteen minutes!
Bonjour tout le monde!
You may have read about "Unveiled" through the AfterEllen site, and I actually found the movie (in 5 parts) on YouTube. I thought I'd share this beautiful movie with you. (It's a German movie with English subtitles. Enjoy it!)
PART 1 / PART 2 / PART 3 / PART 4 / PART 5
Unveiled is about a woman, Fariba, who got caught with another woman and therefore flees Teheran and her home country. She arrives in Germany, where she takes on the identity of a young man (Simiak) in order to stay. Fariba keeps a low profile, living in constant fear of being found out, but then she falls in love with a German woman - a co-worker at the factory...
This film is banned in Iran - which is no surprise. Still, well acted and Fariba's story is heart breaking.
Bonjour tout le monde! Are you enjoying the Summer, too?
With the third X-men movie currently in theatres near you, you may have heard about its (hidden) gay content; queer movie critics have drawn parallels between "the cure" in the movie and in real life. Despite what some people say, homosexuality is not a disease nor an
affliction and therefore I think - even with today's very advanced medical science - there won't be a cure for that.

Anyhoo, I'm getting a little off track here. I really wanted to bring up Dutch model-turned-actress Famke Janssen. Here are two clips of her in a French tv show - yes, she speaks French as well :) - promoting X-men 3. Clip 1 - Clip 2
You may have picked up on the fact that Famke played gay: she's played Kelly Preston's lover in Eulogy, a black comedy.
Watch this teaser - it didn't make the final cut of the movie. Too bad...
Canadian punk rock chick Bif Naked is considered (by some) the heavier version of Ani DiFranco. Her new single "Let down" is out now and you can check out the video here.
She will tour Europe as well to promote her current album "SuperBeautifulMonster" and if you're curious as how she and her band sound playing live, check this out. (For those of you who like their women tattooed: Bif currently has 31 tattoos and she shows her favorite one in the interview... And I love those kick ass boots Bif is wearing!)
AfterEllen posted an article a while ago on Bif which you can read here :)
Bonjour tout le monde!
I found the video to the new Joan Jett single "A.C.D.C." online - the one with Carmen Elektra in it. Check it out here... Enjoy :)
Bonjour tout le monde!
In an earlier post you could all read that AfterEllen reports that Cybill Shepard is joining the L Word cast for its fourth season (last Sunday the first episode of the second season aired in the Netherlands - finally).
The site also reports about another added character for that season: a Latina played by an Asian. WTF?! Why? (Don't tell me that's some kind of American logic - cos that's just bull.) Why not make a "proper" Asian out of that Latina character and rewrite that part to fit the actress? I'm not saying that Carmen wasn't a welcome addition (from what I saw on the Internet; she did good), but do those Hollywood lesbians realize how few Asian lesbians are out? Heck, I am, but I am not a Hollywood lesbian nor do I hardly ever run into other Asian lesbians... I'm just saying it's a missed opportunity, and therefore a damn shame.
If anyone wants to correct me on the visibility of Asian lesbians: drop me a line - I'm open to discuss this :)
Bonjour, Texas fans! Even though my French is rusty at best, I managed to find something that surely is of interest to you.
The french music magazine Magic released a special edition about Texas and it's currently on sale.
In this 68 page magazine you can read lots of Texas articles (in french) and look at lots of great photos - including some unique ones. You can order it through here.
I am trying to figure out how to get that edition, since it does not seem to accept Dutch postcodes. Can anyone help me out with that?
... To accompany the beautiful Summer weather, here's an old Texas video with Sharleen in a sexy romp :)
Bonjour! Surfing the internet looking for additional info on the Pinkpop festival I'm attending this weekend, I incidentally came across this interesting commercial :)
If you like comics, then you have something to look forward to.
Ever wished (or suspected) Batwoman was gay? Well, you are about to be right! Check this out.
Comic book heroine Batwoman is to make a comeback as a "lipstick lesbian" who moonlights as a crime fighter, a DC Comics spokesman has confirmed. Batwoman, whose real name is Kathy Kane, will appear in 52, a year-long DC Comics publication that began this month.
In her latest incarnation, she is a rich socialite who has a romantic history with another 52 character, ex-police detective Renee Montoya.
52 will be published in the UK as a graphic novel by Titan Books in 2007. Unfortunately, I have no idea when this series will be published in France and in which form (as seperate isues or as one collected volume).
(Just so you know: the series is set in a world in which established superheroes like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman no longer play a part.)
Planning a vacation and you're (still) not sure where to go?
Have you considered visiting Chicago in the USA? Chicago is this year's host to the Gay Games, and it's therefore the perfect opportunity to combine culture and partying. The Games take place from July 15 - 22.
A week later Montreal (just across the Canadian border) hosts the first world Out Games.
I'm visiting friends in Chicago and I'll be attending the opening ceremony - as a spectator, and maybe some matches (my friend's significant other will be competing against other volleyball teams). For those of you who are in Chicago during the Gay Games: if you see me, don't hesitate to say "Bonjour" to me :)

Zoo park "Overloon", which is near where I live, has three pairs of queer storks. That's right; three. Two pairs of gay male storks, one consisting of two lesbian storks. Last week one of the gay couples had a baby, and the pair of lesbian storks had twins; they're now raising children - just like people. The males are reportedly raising a baby stork from a donor egg, while one of the females was fertilized by a male. All the chicks are doing fine.

I bought the new Snow Patrol album a few weeks ago and it's been in my cd-player ever since.
The music may seem more uptempo than the tracks on their previous album "Final straw", but don't let that fool you; the real beauty can be found in the lyrics! Current single in the Netherlands is "You're all I have" but my favorite track at the moment is "Hands open"...
I was pleasantly surprised to find one duet on "Eyes open": "Set fire to the third bar" with (lesbian icon) Martha Wainwright. Take a listen to it here. Singer Gary Lightbody's voice and Martha's go so well together! Did anybody else see their duet (live!) on Jools Holland's "Later..." on BBC tv last Friday? Jools also interviewed them - read it here.
