A new TV ad running in the UK for the clothing line French Connection is drawing controversy. The commercial shows a blonde and a brunette model fighting in a basement before getting soaked in water and sharing a passionate kiss. (Their kiss is cut short with a headbutt from the dark-haired model, at which point the clip ends.) French Connection is the company that drew some notice last year when it adopted the logo "FCUK". But the company announced last year that it was scaling this back in favor of something more "subtle". Naturally, some UK residents are upset. A spokeswoman for the UK's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) said they had received 50 complaints since the ad began airing Sunday. "Some believe it's offensive in its sexual nature, particularly the lesbian kiss. Others have complained about the violence." Decide for yourself and watch the ad on the French Connection UK site. Interesting fact: the ad was directed by Duncan Jones, the son of singer David Bowie.
Personally, I think it's something of a spoof to martial arts movies and if I were to complain about it it'd be because I think the ad portrays too much violence :P
